Marathon Arts Information

Marathon is known as 'The Heart of The Florida Keys" and as such includes a lot of everything that is found from Key West to Key Largo. This includes the "arts". Marathon is home to a wonderful community theater featuring live performances year round! Marathon also has several art galleries featuring the work of local Marathon artists as well as many artists who specialize in nautical art and photography.
Because Marathon is so picturesque, be sure to bring your camera. Marathon is a terrific tropical location to take pictures. Several major motion pictures have been shot in Marathon, most notably 'True Lies". The famous Seven Mile Bridge was the backdrop for many scenes featured in the film. Pigeon Key, which is located along the Seven Mile Bridge is a perfect place to bring a picnic lunch. The island features a museum filled with historic photography dating back to the building of the Seven Mile Bridge and Overseas highway.
The Crane Point Museum is a Nature Center and Historic Site and host beautiful audobon artwork featuring wildlife from the Marathon Region. Other locations that will also be of interest in The Dolphin Research Center, The Theater of the Sea and well as The Turtle Hospital.
