Sloppy Joe's Bar in Key West will host its 32th Annual Hemingway Look-Alike contest July 17-22, 2012. The contest is one of many events in Key West to celebrate the birthday of Ernest Hemingway and honor his work as author and sportsman.
From each preliminary round finalists are chosen. In last year’s competition over 141 Look-Alikes took the stage with thirteen contestants from Thursday night and twelve from Friday night going on to the final round.
Look-Alikes are everywhere, it's a load of fun! Come early, get a good seat and watch the competition.
After the finals, the party spills over into the streets, where the Street Fair on Duval continues with food, drinks, entertainment and fun for everyone!
The infamous Ernest Hemingway Look-Alike Society invites you to join the Society. They will be at Sloppy Joe's to sign-up new members.
12th Annual Running of the Bulls Saturday, July 25th at Noon get your photo taken with Papa. At 1:00pm — Of the "running," Hemingway once remarked, "Pamplona is no place to bring your wife." Not the case here. There are no young Spaniards, just Papa's making the mock run in the streets.
23rd Annual Arm Wrestling Contest Sunday, July 26th at 1:00pm The Arm Wrestling Championship is the finale to the event. Contestants will line up to fill one of the seven weight categories. Same day registration begins at noon. Women's competition will have two weight divisions: up to 125lbs; and over 126 lbs. Men's competition will have five weight divisions: 125 lbs to 140 lbs: 141lbs to 160lbs; 161lbs to 180lbs; 181lbs to 205lbs; and 206lbs and up. Men will be required to weigh in. $5 Entry Fee. Prizes awarded.
